Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 10, 2026
Keeply is a local-first desktop application — version management runs entirely on your computer or the locations you choose, and Keeply itself collects no usage data. Your files stay on your device; only if you enable the optional AI assistant and explicitly select files does that content go from your computer directly to the AI provider you choose (see “When you choose to use the AI assistant” below). This privacy policy explains the minimal data we actually process, who handles it, and your rights.

By default, your files stay on your device
Keeply manages version history of your project files locally. All project files are stored only on your computer or NAS. Apart from the optional AI assistant described in the next section — which you must enable yourself and which sends only content you explicitly select — Keeply does not upload, transmit, access, read, or process your file contents. We do not operate any cloud storage servers and cannot view your work at any time.
Network communications made by the Keeply desktop application are limited to:
- License verification: Communicates with Keygen.sh (see below)
- Update checks: Checks whether a new version is available
- AI assistant (optional, off by default): only when you connect an AI service and explicitly select content — your computer connects directly to the AI provider you chose (see the next section)
Outside the AI assistant case above (which you enable, and which covers only content you explicitly select), the desktop application does not transmit your file contents or file metadata. Keeply currently sends no usage statistics either (see §2.5).
When you choose to use the AI assistant
The AI assistant is off by default. Only when you connect an AI service yourself (by entering your own API key) and explicitly choose which files the AI may see is the content of those files sent from your computer directly to the AI provider you selected (for example OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or a local model running on your own machine). This never passes through any Keeply server — Keeply does not handle, store, or see your content.
If you choose local mode (running an AI model on your own computer, for example with Ollama or LM Studio), your file content never leaves your computer at all — and there are no API fees.
Your API key is stored only in your computer's operating-system credential vault (Windows Credential Manager / macOS Keychain). Keeply does not upload, host, or see your key; usage and fees are settled directly between you and the AI provider — Keeply never handles the money and adds no markup.
Once content reaches the AI provider you selected, its retention, deletion, and use for training are governed by that provider's terms and privacy policy (for example the privacy policies of OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google) — which provider to use is your decision, and Keeply does not endorse any provider. Please review your provider's policy before sending.
Keeply's error reporting and statistics never include your file contents or AI conversation content. In addition, every AI edit is first shown to you as a proposal, applied only after you confirm it, fully recorded in version history and labeled as an AI-assistant edit, and reversible with one click.
What we do NOT collect
| Category | Collected? |
|---|---|
| Your project files or file contents | ❌ Never |
| File names, paths, or directory structure | ❌ Never |
| Screen recordings, screenshots, or UI activity | ❌ Never |
| Credit card numbers or payment details | ❌ Never (handled by Paddle) |
| Passwords | ❌ Never |
| Browsing history | ❌ Never |
| Usage statistics / telemetry | ❌ None today — shipped builds send no statistics (see §2.5) |
When you use the optional AI assistant, the content you explicitly select goes from your computer directly to the AI provider you chose — it does not pass through Keeply, and Keeply still never receives or stores it (see “When you choose to use the AI assistant”).
Data processed during license verification
To verify your software license, Keeply communicates with Keygen.sh (Keygen LLC, Virginia, USA). The data transmitted includes:
- License key — Confirms whether the license is valid
- Vault location identifier — A one-way hash of your project vault's unique ID (cannot be traced back to the original identifier or your file contents)
- Application version — Checks compatibility and license scope
- Vault location token — A hashed identifier of your team's vault location (cannot be reversed to the actual storage path)
We do not transmit your name, email address, or any file contents. Keygen holds SOC 2 Type II certification, uses Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) for international data transfers, and retains server logs for up to 30 days and analytics data for up to 90 days.
For details, see the Keygen.sh Privacy Policy.
Legal basis (GDPR): Contractual necessity (Article 6(1)(b)).
Data processed during payment
All purchases of Keeply are processed by Paddle.com, which serves as our Merchant of Record. Your transaction is with Paddle, not Keeply. Paddle collects and processes: name, email address, billing address, payment method, location, and IP address.
Keeply never receives, stores, or accesses your credit card number or full payment details. Paddle may share limited buyer information (name, email, and transaction details) with us solely for order fulfillment and product support.
For details, see the Paddle Privacy Policy and Paddle Buyer Terms.
Legal basis (GDPR): Contractual necessity (Article 6(1)(b)) and legitimate interest in fraud prevention (Article 6(1)(f)).
Data collected on our website
The Keeply marketing website (keeply.work) detects your preferred language entirely within your browser — we do not send your IP address to any third party for this purpose. Your language choice is saved to your browser's local storage only after you explicitly pick one from the language menu, or open a language-specific link (e.g. keeply.work/de/). (Historical note: before 2026-04-23 the website used a third-party IP geolocation service; see the Keeply governance document for the decision, alternatives considered, and removal timeline.)
If you contact us by email, we retain the correspondence to respond to your inquiry. You will not be added to any marketing list unless you explicitly opt in.
Usage statistics
Keeply currently collects no usage statistics and sends none.
Shipped Keeply builds contain no active usage-statistics reporting. Reporting code exists inside the application, but shipped builds are configured with no reporting endpoint, so the entire pipeline is dormant — nothing is sent, including the install-source count. Keeply's error reporting and statistics never include your file contents or AI conversation content.
If a future version enables anonymous usage statistics, we will update this privacy policy before that version ships, clearly inform you inside the application, and ask for your consent where applicable.
Third-party services
| Service | Purpose | Data shared | Location | Privacy policy |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Keygen.sh | License verification | License key, vault location identifier (hash), version | USA | Link |
| Paddle.com | Payment processing (MoR) | Name, email, billing address, payment method | UK / USA | Link |
AI providers are not in this table: when you use the optional AI assistant, you deal with your chosen provider directly — you accept their terms and pay them directly, and Keeply is not a party to that relationship (see “When you choose to use the AI assistant”).
International data transfers
Keeply is headquartered in Taiwan. Limited data may be transferred to the USA (Keygen.sh) and UK/USA (Paddle), governed by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) and each party's GDPR compliance programs.
Data retention
| Data | Retention period |
|---|---|
| License verification logs (Keygen) | Up to 30 days (logs); up to 90 days (analytics) |
| Payment data (Paddle) | As required by tax and financial regulations |
| Customer support emails | Duration of business relationship, or upon deletion request |
| Usage statistics | Not applicable — none collected today (see §2.5) |
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent.
EU/EEA residents (GDPR): You have all of the above rights and may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know what personal information is collected, request deletion, and opt out. We do not sell personal information.
Taiwan residents (PDPA): You have the right to access, correct, and request deletion of your personal data.

EU Representative
For the purposes of GDPR Article 27, our EU representative information is pending.
Children's privacy
Keeply is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app and on this website at least 30 days before they take effect.
